"Using bone conduction, a technology developed for hearing devices, the touch echo installation transmits sounds of the cities which were devastated in the 1945 carpet bombing in the Second World War, through the arms of the visitors when they rest their elbows on the balustrade and hold their ears closed. Several custom-made sound conductors mounted to the railing send sounds of airplanes and bombs exploding through vibrations; it is completely silent unless you touch the railing. The installation touched echo is a minimal media intervention set within a public space. The visitors of Brühl's Terrace in Dresden are taken back in time to the night of the terrible air raid which devastated their city February 13, 1945. In their role as performer, the visitor imagines themselves in the place of the Dresden inhabitants who must have closed their ears tightly in fear to shut out the horrendous noise of the explosions 65 years ago. When one leans on the balustrade the sound of airplanes and explosions is transmitted from the swinging balustrade through one’s arm directly into the inner ear."

Fomos a este Turco de propósito para ver se os víamos. Consta que vão lá jantar todos os dias, caminham desde a sua casa - em Brick Lane - até ao restaurante, cerca de meia-hora a pé. Não resisti em fazer este vídeo, máquina fotográfica sem som, qual paparazzi, a ter de pedir desculpas à australiana da mesa em frente que quase me obrigou a apagar as fotos que lhe tirei à socapa. Lá lhe expliquei que não era a ela que queria fotografar...

Viajávamos muito de avião, todos os dias e várias vezes no mesmo dia. Só que tinha de se ter cuidado com o lugar que se escolhia, só era conveniente viajarmos mais para o meio, pois durante a viagem o avião encolhia-se todo nas extremidades, uma coisa aterradora, encolhia-se e ficava com o aspecto de como quando alguém amachuca uma folha. Isto parece esquisito mas era assim que o voo e a realidade se processava. Só que a realidade era um sonho e foi o que eu sonhei a noite passada.

Ron van der Ende makes perspective reliefs in old wood. Each covered in a mosaic of thin colored veneers. Ron doesn’t paint the wood itself; he keeps a large collection of old planks and doors in the colors he needs. His work includes a series of 14 motor cars in which numerous American classics, a Ferrari, a smashed-up Toyota and a G.A.Z. Volga were represented.
He subsequently explored the possibilities of his collage construction technique further, making boats, an out-board motor, a plane and even buildings.
